The Florida International university was founded in 1965 as a public and co-educational and metropolitan university. Headquartered in Greater Miami of the Florida State, it has a 344-acre campus. The university is a member of the State University System of Florida. It is the fourth largest university in the country. Florida International University is classified as a research university with highest research activity by the Carnegie Foundation. The US News and World Reports Best Colleges and Regional Universities edition, the university was given Tier-2 status. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges recognized the Florida International University to award bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral and specialist degrees to students. Under the purview of the university there are several colleges are offering 70 bachelors’, 88 masters’, 35 doctoral and three specialist programmes. All campuses of Florida International University have libraries. They are: Steven J. and Dorothea Green Library, Glenn Hubert Library, Wolfsonian Library, Engineering Library services, Law Library, Medical Library. The university extends researchers and students several services. They store thousands of print books, e-books, e-journals and electronic data bases. It has many public documents, microfilms and audio and video clippings useful to students. It has other technological gadgets as well.
