Founded in 1853, the Lousiana State University is the biggest university in Lousiana. It is located in Baytonrose. It is located on the coast of Mississippi river. It is a public, co-educational university. It has a 2000-acre campus. The university ranked 129 in the list of best colleges in national universities of the US News and World Report-2016. The average class size in more than 37 is 20.The university was established as an educational institution bearing the name of Seminary of Learning in the State of Louisiana was set up in 1853 at Fine Valley. The institution suffered a lot of damage during the course of civil war and Red River Valley invasion. In 1870, its name was changed to that of Louisiana State University. In 1926, it was shifted to Bayton Rouge from Pine Ville. The university progressed ever since it received the sea-grant college status in 1978. It is recognized by the National Association of Colleges and Schools Commission of Colleges to offer bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral degrees and professional degrees.
