The University of South Carolina earned reputation as the seat of highest research activity. The university occupied the first two positions for about 13 years in offering undergraduate international programmes. Founded in 1801 as a public, coeducational, research university, is spread across a 359-acre campus as Columbia as its headquarters. The Carnegie foundation described the university as the research university where highest research activity takes place. As per the US News and World Report rankings the university the university’s international undergraduate programme ranked first and second positions for about 13 years in a row. The graduate international programme occupied the first two ranks for about 20 years in a row. Its graduate social psychology programme ranked number four. The university has over 30,000 students drawn from 54 counties of South Carolina, 50 states of the USA and over 100 countries across the globe. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission recognized the University of South Carolina to award bachelors, master’s, doctoral and professional degrees.
